So obama can't decide what to do about Syria. Of course what he hasn't done to date is what put him, and the US in this situation in the first place.
Forget about the "line in the sand" he drew last year with regard to chemical weapons. It was more of the same from him, and all the world knows his lack of foreign initiative.
It is the fact that there was no support for the rebels that may have actually been pro-US from the outset. The lack of support has led to the infiltration of al-qaeda supporting factions and has turned this civil war into a lose, lose for the US and the Syrian people.
So obmama wants to "punish" Assad. And surprisingly enough he is seeking Congress' approval. But what exactly is going to be accomplished? Another action taken up by an impotent administration that will lead to something much worse than what transpired in Egypt?
Not only has obama lost all credibility on the world stage, he lacks the wisdom, and foresight to make the proper moves.
Which, sadly again, comes full circle to what I have been saying since obama was elected in '08-true leaders surround themselves with the best people for the job at hand. obama has surrounded himself with 'yes men' and powderpuff appointees so that he can control every aspect of every decision. That is until he doesn't want to be bothered with something. Or he does something wrong. Then the blame lands squarely on someone else, regardless of the fact that he had the controlling input.
Every scandal and corrupt action that is surfacing in obama's administration points directly to the fact that he is not a true leader, just a scoundrel doing anything he can to remain in power and torch his "enemies".
The Reverend John Maxwell penned "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" some ten years before obama was to be elected president. I doubt obama heard about or read the book, but he really should have, instead of delving into the socialist manifestoes of Saul Alinsky.
The first chapter of Maxwell's deals with what he calls the "Law of the Lid". To paraphrase-a leaders effectiveness is limited by his or her leadership abilities. Maxwell takes into account such things as - people skills, planning and strategic thinking, vision and results.
You don't need to put obama under a microscope to see that he is lacking in each of those areas. A decent orator does not make a leader at any level.
People skills? obama only deals with those people he must, and usually not face to face. Other times he deals with individuals only after public outcry makes it clear that he has no option, completely reactionary. And when it comes to foreign dignitaries he has actually stated that "it is not my job" to speak with them. A definitive "F--" for people skills.
Planning and strategic thinking? I would actually give obama a higher grade on this, maybe a simple "F". Why? Well, he has shown that he can follow a strategy to its completion, and the planning of that strategy could be considered a form of process. Look at what he did with Egypt, though it was a debacle. Look at what health care reform has and will do-destroy the health care system entirely so that the government has to step in with a single payer system. OK, so all signs point to anti-American and socialist motives, what difference at this point does it make?
Vision? I have written about this aspect of obama's personality before. You only have to look as far as his "community development" programs to see his vision. You only need to look at the way that he is trying to dismantle the Constitution to see his vision. We are not talking 'big government' here, we are talking 'only government'. Then we will follow all of those cultures that preceded us down that path to financial and social ruin. Another "F--" for the vision of a people ruled by government instead of a government ruled by people.
Results? Really, do I need to go through all of obama's failures? After five years we still have outrageous unemployment, the economy is on the brink of a death spiral, the national debt is ever increasing and the US world position is slipping even further down. Of course obama could sight a thousand reasons why he is not to blame, but the fact is, he is to blame. The fact is, that a leader would take responsibility then take action. Not point the finger then act as though the current condition is status quo. Another "F--".
So, the first of the '21 Laws' finds obama with a grade of "F--". And unlike the liberal teachers and professors that are more concerned about not hurting anyone's feelings or are simply trying to hide their ineptness, I will not grade on a curve or give points for obama doing one thing right, if he continues to do one thousand things wrong.
Take a break from the maniacal left!
